The first show I saw was called San Am Fado (pronounced Shan ahm fa-DOH translates to “the long ago”). It is actually the same show that I saw at Siamsa Tire when I came to years ago with the fam. I remembered really liking it, but last night reaffirmed that it is one of the most perfect pieces of theater I’ve ever seen. It’s not really a play, there’s no script or dialogue, or even that much of a story; the actors just act out scenes of country life and it’s all punctuated by moments of Irish dancing and really beautiful Gaelic choral singing. It’s a little hard to describe…it’s like an Irish dance ballet… Anyways, call me cheesy, but it totally gave me goose bumps. Tonight I’m seeing a different show by the same company, so I don’t know what it’s going to be like but I expect it will also be wonderful.

At one point when I was riding my bike around I stopped next to a farm wall to look at my map and readjust. I had seen that there were some horses in the field and when I looked up from the map I found them looking right back at me. They had seen me and run over to greet me. Apparently they really wanted to have their picture taken.

I remember Tralee! You must be at the hotel where the tour took us to have dinner before the show. The restaurant was at the entrance of the hotel and we literally walked out around to the right and we were at the theater. As I recall it was a pretty good meal, but probably beyond your budget.
I'm surprised that the play was the very same one we saw. What is the deal with that? Were there only a limited number of them written?
Enjoy the dance conference and maybe you can inquire with some of the locals as to where a Vegan might find a meal. I have visions of you coming back just skin & bones.
Your pictures of horses are much more palatable than Nicole's. As you'll recall hers tend toward the disgusting.
The horses were interested in you because you were a living being ~ something that is rarely seen in that locale. Hope you patted them on their noses.
uuuhh, I have no recollection of tralee or seeing siamsa tire. if it's anything like ballet, maybe i fell asleep. hmm.
i like the picture of the horses.
